Champion Seed expands production facility to better serve growers, now and in the future.
At Champion Seed, being dependable isn’t just a promise — it’s a daily expectation. We know growers count on us to deliver the right seed at the right time without added stress, whether it’s during tight planting windows or in response to last-minute field decisions. That commitment is exactly why we’re expanding our production facility.
We’ve been operating at maximum capacity for several seasons, and this expansion marks our proactive investment in Champion Seed growers, our employees and the future of agriculture.
“We’d been turning the warehouse over multiple times just to get product in and out,” said Seth Hill, Champion Seed co-owner. “This expansion helps us bring more product in earlier, ship more loads each day and reduce the number of deliveries to each farm.”
More space and flexibility by design.
Once complete, the expanded facility will total approximately 83,000 square feet, increasing overall warehouse capacity by about 25%. The project includes two main phases.
- Phase one is underway now. We’re adding two new loading docks, which are nearly complete and expected to be operational by early spring 2026.
- Phase two will be a major warehouse expansion, set to begin in late April or early May. We’re targeting early fall 2026 for the project completion.
These upgrades will create more room to store and ship seed efficiently, which will allow us to serve growers better, especially during the busiest times of year. And that added space matters more than ever.
“Pro boxes have become a staple for a lot of farmers,” Hill explained. “They take up space year-round, but they also make handling seed and loading planters easier. If pro boxes are here to stay, the space to support them has to be here, too.”
Efficiency that protects seed quality.
Beyond logistics, the expanded facility also plays a key role in protecting seed quality, especially soybeans.
“With more capacity, we can bring more soybeans straight in from the field at harvest,” said Warehouse Manager Tony Vorm. “The fewer times seed is handled, the better the quality. Handling it once, right out of the field, makes a difference.”
Today, limited space means more transfers, more movement and more tough decisions about what can come in and when. The expansion reduces these constraints, allowing seed to move faster and stay protected for consistent quality from harvest to delivery.
It also means fewer bottlenecks during peak season.
“Our floor space is extremely tight right now,” Vorm said. “With more room, more people can work efficiently at the same time. That makes things smoother for our team and less stressful for everyone.”
What this means for growers.
For customers, the biggest benefit of the expansion is flexibility. With added capacity, we can be even more accommodating to your needs.
“This gives us the ability to hold seed longer for customers who aren’t quite ready,” Vorm said. “Some growers know exactly what they want early. Others need time. This expansion lets us respect both.”
The additional space also allows Champion to better customize orders, whether that’s partial boxes, specialty quantities or seed staged specifically for individual fields. When planting windows are tight, that flexibility matters.
“No grower likes uncertainty about when their seed will arrive,” Hill said. “Not everyone can handle seed early, but everyone needs it on time. This expansion helps us deliver accurately and reliably when it counts.”
Reliability you can feel season after season.
This expansion will create a more cohesive experience across the board, for warehouse employees to dealers to growers.
“Things will flow better,” Vorm said. “Less pressure, less pushing, more flexibility. Everyone benefits from that.”
It also allows us to continue doing what sets us apart: shipping seed to customers directly, across a wide range of maturities — from 72-day corn to 118-day varieties — without sacrificing accuracy or timing.
“That kind of range takes space,” Hill said. “And this space ensures we can keep delivering the way our customers expect us to.”
Always here. Now and for what’s next.
For Hill, the most exciting part of the expansion isn’t just added square footage — it’s what it means for people.
“Giving our warehouse team the space they need to do their jobs well is huge. It makes their days better and helps them better serve our customers,” he said. “That last mile of delivery is often the final touchpoint before planting. We want that experience to be smooth, calm and stress-free for growers.”
At its core, the facility expansion is about planning ahead, so customers don’t have to worry.
“Champion is putting growers first,” Vorm said. “We’re planning for the future, growing alongside our customers, and making sure we’re ready for their needs today and tomorrow.”
Because when planting time arrives, one thing will never be in question: Champion Seed will be there.
